If you are applying for student aid funding via the StudentAid BC website, you must be registered in the Hairdressing program before submitting your full-time student aid application. Applications for student aid funding must be submitted at least six weeks before your chosen start date.

Your student aid funding must be completed and verified before you begin the program. Failure to secure verification from StudentAid BC before your start date may result in a delayed program commencement.

Payment Requirements When Applying for Student Aid

When applying for student aid funding, only the $300.00 non-refundable registration/application fee is required. The remaining tuition balance is paid directly to The Hair Art Academy on your behalf by StudentAid BC.

Who Qualifies for Student Aid?

To be eligible for student aid, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have protected person status.
Possess a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN).
Be a resident of British Columbia.
Be enrolled in courses that are part of an eligible program of study.
Hold a valid BC Services Card.
Have downloaded and set up the BC Services app.

How to Apply for Student Aid

To apply for student financial assistance, follow these steps:

Visit the StudentAid BC website: https://studentaidbc.ca
Create an Account: Log in to the StudentAid BC website and create an account using your BC Services Card as your digital ID.
Set Up a BC Services Card Account: Ensure your BC Services Card account is verified through a BC Services agent or the BC Services app.
Access the Application: Navigate to the StudentAid BC login page, select “Login with a BC Services Card account,” and follow the prompts.
Complete the Online Application: Log in to the StudentAid BC Dashboard, complete the application, and submit it.
Consent and Submission: Before submitting, review and agree to the StudentAid BC Declaration and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Consent for income verification, then check the consent boxes.
Track Your Application: Monitor your application status via the StudentAid BC dashboard. Applications are typically processed within six weeks, and notification of the outcome will be available in your dashboard account.

What Happens After I Apply?

Once your application is submitted, StudentAid BC assesses your financial need based on allowable costs and resources.

You will receive a Notification of Assessment, which outlines your funding eligibility and amount.
If you applied for assistance for full-time studies, you can track your application status online via the StudentAid BC dashboard.

Disbursement of Funds

Student aid funds are released in two stages:

Initial Disbursement: At the start of the program.
Second Disbursement: Approximately halfway through the program, provided the student remains enrolled and in good standing.

Loan Repayment

Loan repayment begins on the first day of the seventh month following the completion of your studies. The period between program completion and the start of repayment is known as the non-repayment period.

Interest Rates

As of April 1, 2023, the Government of Canada has eliminated interest on all Canada Student Loans.
